World’s Largest Chili Bowl For Charity

We do everything bigger in Texas. This year the USS Diamondback prepared the World’s Largest Chili Bowl for charity, raising money over Labor Day Weekend for the Ben Richey Boys’ Ranch in Abilene. The two-day event offers auctions, concessions, and cook-off contests not limited to Chili. The USS Diamondback’s crew has a history of helping with this long-time event, and we were asked to do more than ever before this year as Covid caused a shortage of Volunteers.

Categories for contestants included Beans, Brisket, Children’s Hamburgers, Chicken, Chili and Desserts. The event raised about $10,000 in all for the Boys’ Ranch and Children’s Services in Abilene; of that total $5,000 came from concessions stand sales, including the stand run by the Diamondback crew.
